Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University (SKBU), Purulia is a state public university established by the Government of West Bengal in 2010. The university is located in Purulia district and was established to promote higher education in the western region of West Bengal, especially among tribal and rural communities. 

The university is named after tribal freedom fighters Sidho, Kanho and Birsa Munda, reflecting its focus on regional heritage, tribal studies and inclusive education. SKBU offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs across Arts, Science and Commerce disciplines. (
