About College/University

College of Engineering Trivandrum (CET) is a government-owned engineering institution located in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Established in 1939, it is the first engineering college in the erstwhile Travancore State and has developed into a multidisciplinary institution offering undergraduate, postgraduate, management, architecture, planning and doctoral programmes.

The college is administered by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Kerala, and affiliated with APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. The current campus covers approximately 80 acres and accommodates around 5,000 students with about 300 faculty members.

CET's current academic portfolio includes B.Tech and B.Arch at undergraduate level, numerous M.Tech specialisations, M.Arch, M.Plan, MCA, MBA and Ph.D. programmes.

Courses

B.Tech: College of Engineering Trivandrum offers B.Tech programmes in Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Applied Electronics and Instrumentation, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering. The regular B.Tech programmes are generally eight semesters in duration.

B.Arch: The five-year Bachelor of Architecture programme is offered through the Department of Architecture and Planning and consists of ten semesters. The programme follows the applicable Council of Architecture norms.

M.Tech: CET offers a wide range of four-semester M.Tech programmes including Structural Engineering, Traffic & Transportation Engineering, Hydraulics Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geo Informatics, Machine Design, Propulsion Engineering, Thermal Sciences, Industrial Engineering, Financial Engineering, Manufacturing & Automation, Control Systems, Power Systems, Guidance & Navigational Control, Electrical Machines, Communication Systems, Applied Electronics & Instrumentation, Signal Processing, Micro & Nano Electronics, Robotics & Automation, Computer Science & Engineering, Information Security, Artificial Intelligence, Renewable Energy and Power Electronics.

M.Arch: The Department of Architecture and Planning offers M.Arch programmes in Urban Design and Environmental Design. These are four-semester postgraduate architecture programmes.

M.Plan: The M.Plan programme focuses on planning and is a four-semester postgraduate programme. The Department of Architecture and Planning identifies the programme as M.Plan (Housing), while current CET PG information lists Planning as a postgraduate programme.

MCA: The Master of Computer Applications is a two-year postgraduate programme with an intake of 60 students according to the current PG programme listing.

MBA: CET School of Management offers a two-year MBA programme through APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, with full-time and evening options. The current full-time MBA has an intake of 120 students, while the evening programme has an additional intake.

Course Eligibility

B.Tech: Candidates must satisfy the Kerala engineering admission requirements and qualify through KEAM for regular B.Tech admission. The 2026 CET admission process was based on the B.Tech allotment list published by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Kerala.

B.Arch: Candidates must satisfy the prescribed 10+2 qualification and architecture admission requirements and qualify through the applicable NATA-based admission process. The B.Arch programme is conducted according to Council of Architecture norms.

M.Tech: Candidates generally require a relevant B.E./B.Tech qualification with at least 60% marks and a valid GATE score, subject to the programme-specific admission rules.

M.Arch: Candidates require a recognised B.Arch degree and must satisfy the prescribed postgraduate architecture admission requirements. Current admission information specifies 60% marks for M.Arch.

M.Plan: Candidates require a relevant bachelor's degree in planning or an equivalent qualification and must satisfy the applicable postgraduate admission requirements.

MCA: Candidates require a BCA degree with at least 50% marks as reported in the current 2026 admission information.

MBA: Candidates require a bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks and a valid KMAT Kerala, CAT or CMAT score. Selection also involves the applicable group discussion and interview process.
