Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University (RMLAU), Ayodhya, formerly known as Avadh University, is one of the leading state universities in Uttar Pradesh. Established in 1975, the university was renamed in 1993–94 in memory of the renowned freedom fighter and socialist leader Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia. The university functions as both an affiliating and residential university, serving hundreds of affiliated colleges across the Ayodhya region.

Located on a sprawling campus in Ayodhya, RMLAU offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and doctoral programmes in Engineering, Pharmacy, Management, Science, Commerce, Arts, Law, Education, Computer Applications and Performing Arts. The university focuses on academic excellence, research, innovation, entrepreneurship and skill-based education.

The university provides modern classrooms, engineering laboratories, pharmacy labs, computer centres, a central library, hostels, sports facilities and research centres. Through its large network of affiliated colleges and residential departments, RMLAU has become one of the major higher education institutions in Eastern Uttar Pradesh.
