Government Medical College, Kozhikode, popularly known as Calicut Medical College, is one of the most prestigious government medical institutions in India. Established in 1957, it was the second medical college in Kerala and has grown into one of the largest centres for medical education, research and tertiary healthcare in South India. The college is affiliated with the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
Spread across nearly 270 acres, the institution serves around 40% of Kerala's population through its teaching hospital and associated healthcare institutions. The MBBS intake has increased from 50 students at inception to 250 students annually, while postgraduate education is offered in over 28 disciplines along with numerous super-speciality programmes.
The college is renowned for its advanced patient care facilities, kidney transplantation programme, cardiac catheterization laboratory, oncology services, medical education technology centre and research infrastructure. It remains one of Kerala's preferred government medical colleges for undergraduate and postgraduate medical education
