Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU), Kottayam, is a state public university located at Priyadarsini Hills, Kottayam, Kerala. It was established on 2 October 1983 and initially operated under the name Gandhiji University before being renamed Mahatma Gandhi University in 1988. The university received full UGC recognition in 1988.

MGU serves the higher-education needs of Kerala through its university schools and departments as well as a large network of affiliated colleges. Its academic portfolio covers Arts, Science, Commerce, Engineering, Technology, Management, Computer Applications, Education, Social Sciences and several professional disciplines.

Course Eligibility

B.A.: Candidates must satisfy the prescribed higher-secondary qualification requirements for the selected BA programme. Subject-specific eligibility may apply depending on the chosen specialisation.

B.Sc.: Candidates generally require a recognised higher-secondary qualification with the subjects prescribed for the selected B.Sc specialisation. Science-subject combinations can vary between programmes.

B.Com.: Candidates who have completed the prescribed higher-secondary qualification can apply, subject to the specific eligibility conditions of the selected B.Com programme.

B.Tech: Candidates must meet the Kerala engineering admission requirements and the eligibility prescribed for the selected engineering branch. Admission to applicable programmes follows the relevant Kerala engineering admission process.

BBA/BCA: Candidates must satisfy the prescribed higher-secondary qualification requirements. Programme-specific subject and percentage conditions may apply.

B.Ed: Candidates require the prescribed bachelor's-level qualification and must satisfy the applicable university and teacher-education admission requirements.

B.Arch: Candidates must meet the prescribed higher-secondary/architecture admission requirements and applicable professional regulations.

B.Pharm: Candidates must satisfy the prescribed science-stream and pharmacy admission requirements applicable to the programme.

M.A.: Candidates generally require a recognised bachelor's degree. Specific subject requirements may apply depending on the selected MA programme.

M.Sc.: Candidates require a relevant bachelor's degree with the required subject background for the selected M.Sc specialisation.

Online MBA: Candidates require a bachelor's degree of at least three years in any stream recognised by MGU with at least 50% marks/required equivalent CGPA, or a master's degree.
