Rajkiya Engineering College (REC), Kannauj is a Government engineering institute established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh in 2015 with the objective of providing quality technical education in the state. Initially, the institute started with the Electrical Engineering programme and later expanded by introducing Computer Science & Engineering, Civil Engineering and Electronics Engineering. It is affiliated with Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow.

The institute shifted to its permanent fully residential campus at Tirwa, Kannauj in 2017. The campus offers academic buildings, laboratories, workshops, smart classrooms, separate hostels for boys and girls, a central library, sports facilities and modern infrastructure developed as per AICTE norms.

REC Kannauj focuses on academic excellence, research, innovation and skill development. The institute has established research facilities, innovation activities and an active Training & Placement Cell that helps students with internships, industrial training and campus recruitment. In recent years, REC Kannauj has emerged as one of the better-performing Government engineering colleges in Uttar Pradesh. It ranked among the top Government engineering colleges in the state's first SIRF rankings.
